Anti-Drug Awareness Program

Dr. Tenzing N. Bhutia, Lecturer at Diet Gangtok and expert in Physical Education, conducted a powerful and enlightening workshop on ‘Anti-Drug Awareness’ in collaboration with the Prahari Club. The session was aimed at educating students about the rising issue of drug abuse in Sikkim, and the growing vulnerability among youth due to peer pressure, misinformation, and lack of guidance. Dr. Bhutia shed light on the emotional and physical impact of drug abuse, while also encouraging students to break the silence—not just when it comes to substance abuse but also in situations involving emotional, physical, or psychological abuse. He emphasized that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. The workshop was highly interactive and engaging, with students from Grades 10, 11, and 12 participating enthusiastically. It created a safe space for open conversation, awareness, and reflection. The session left a lasting impact, equipping students with the knowledge and courage to support themselves and others. This initiative was a step forward in building a more informed, empathetic, and resilient student community.
