D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) day is celebrated every year on 12 April, the birthday of the beloved author Beverly Cleary. The concept of "Drop Everything And Read" originates from the second chapter of her book "Ramona Quimby, Age 8," where families are encouraged to dedicate at least 30 minutes to set aside any distractions and enjoy reading books together. This initiative aims to foster a love for reading and highlight the importance of making time for books in our daily lives. This annual event is a cherished tradition that brings our school community together and reinforces the value of reading. Furthermore, our school extends the spirit of D.E.A.R. day throughout the year by incorporating it into our weekly schedule. Every Thursday, junior students participate in D.E.A.R., while senior students join in on Fridays during lunch recess. This consistent practice not only encourages regular reading habits but also provides a relaxing and enjoyable break from the usual routine.
