Educational Visit to Biodiversity Park, Damthang, South Sikkim

As part of their academic exploration of Biological Classification and Kingdom Plantae, students visited Damthang Biodiversity Park for a meaningful hands-on learning experience. The visit provided a unique opportunity to observe various plant groups—algae, bryophytes, pteridophytes, gymnosperms, and angiosperms—thriving in their natural environment. Through this immersive experience, students deepened their understanding of how living organisms are classified based on structural and functional characteristics. They witnessed the diversity and ecological interactions that form the foundation of classification systems in biology. The trip helped bridge classroom theory with real-world biodiversity, while also encouraging a greater appreciation for the importance of ecological balance and biodiversity conservation. More than just an academic activity, the visit inspired students to reflect on their role in preserving the natural world.
