Exploring Science and Nature: Grade XII’s Educational Visit to Darjeeling
On 10th October, the students of Grade XII, accompanied by their homeroom teachers, embarked on an educational field trip to Darjeeling, organized by the school. The trip aimed to extend learning beyond the classroom and provide students with firsthand experiences in science, nature, and culture.
The journey began early in the morning, with the first stop at the Happy Valley Tea Estate. Here, students observed the intricate tea-making process from drying and rolling to oxidation, grading, and packaging. They also enjoyed a tea-tasting session, sampling eight different varieties of tea, including both flavored and seasonal blends.
The next destination was the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, where students encountered several rare and endangered Himalayan species, such as the Red Panda and the Royal Bengal Tiger. This visit deepened their understanding of wildlife conservation and the importance of protecting biodiversity.
The trip concluded with a visit to the Bose Institute, where students explored fascinating exhibits on the life and scientific contributions of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, a trailblazer in plant physiology and wireless communication.
This educational excursion offered students valuable insights into agriculture, biodiversity, and scientific innovation, making it a truly memorable and enriching learning experience.
