Educational Excursion to Ridge Park, Orchidarium and Chogyal's Palace
As part of an enriching educational excursion, on the 4th of May, 2026, students of Grade IV and V, visited Ridge Park, the Flower Exhibition Centre and Orchidarium, and the historic Chogyal's Palace in Gangtok. The trip provided a unique opportunity to explore Sikkim's rich natural heritage, biodiversity, culture, and history beyond the classroom.
At the Orchidarium, students learned about the diverse species of orchids found in Sikkim, their pollination process, and the vital role played by insects such as honeybees, carpenter bees, and moths. They also explored exhibits on orchid fragrances, conservation efforts, and the historical significance of the Wardian Case in plant transportation. The beautifully designed mirror room and the surrounding gardens added to the learning experience.
The students later visited the Tsuklakhang Monastery and the Chogyal's Palace premises, where they gained valuable insights into Sikkim's royal history, Buddhist traditions, and cultural heritage. The excursion combined education, exploration, and enjoyment, making it a memorable learning experience for all participants.
