Exploring Biodiversity in the Wild: Grade 12 Educational Excursion to Gorumara National Park
As part of their study of Biodiversity and Conservation in Biology, the Grade 12 students embarked on an educational excursion to Gorumara National Park, one of West Bengal’s renowned protected forest ecosystems. The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world environmental observations.
During the jungle safari, students witnessed the rich biodiversity of the park and observed a variety of wildlife, including elephants, gaur (Indian bison), deer, and numerous bird species in their natural habitats. The experience offered firsthand insights into ecosystem dynamics, wildlife conservation, and the importance of preserving natural habitats.
The excursion enhanced students’ understanding of the role of national parks in maintaining ecological balance and protecting endangered species. By observing conservation efforts in practice, students gained a deeper appreciation for sustainable environmental management and the challenges involved in safeguarding biodiversity.
Beyond its academic value, the trip inspired curiosity, environmental awareness, and a greater sense of responsibility towards nature.
